Tools: Google Apps Script, TypeScript, Sheets, AppSheet, Claude Code
As CIO of Storage Corner Group, a self-storage operator, I build the reporting, automation, and internal apps that our Accounting, Operations, Revenue, and Marketing teams use every day.
These are internal tools, so I can't share demos, but here's what they do.
Reporting the business runs on
- Data and BI. I built the company's data management and automation (ETL, reporting, and BI) with Google Apps Script, Sheets, AppSheet, and JavaScript.
- Same-store sales dashboard. I rebuilt same-store sales reporting as a secure web dashboard. It pulls fresh data from the Tenant API every day, shows T3/T12, year-over-year, and rate-vs-occupancy views, and each manager only sees their own stores. It replaced older dashboards that exposed an API key in the browser, and parity tests confirm the numbers match.
- Competitive pricing. I moved our competitor pricing, promotion, and vacancy surveys from monthly to daily with automated web scraping. That data now feeds sales and weekly rate decisions.
Apps for the field and the office
- Due diligence app. When we evaluate a self-storage facility, the walkthrough happens on a phone, with photo and video capture and uploads that pick up where they left off, while a desktop dashboard tracks progress. It's built in TypeScript on Apps Script, Sheets, and Drive, with server-side permissions and a full audit log, and 38 automated tests run before every deploy.
- Maintenance ticketing. An AppSheet app keeps managers, office staff, and grounds crew on the same page, with push notifications and role- and location-based security.
- How I build them. I built both web apps with Claude Code agents working from repo-level instructions, behind a single check that runs type checks, unit and end-to-end tests, a secret scan, and the build.
Automation that gives people time back
- Budget automation. Facility budget templates now map accounts between QuickBooks and the property management software automatically, saving about 30 hours of data entry a month.
- Lead follow-up. I moved inquiry and lead logging and follow-up into a digital system, cutting the time spent documenting and following up with customers by about 70%.
